This is the kind of spot where regulars stop by early in the morning or midday for hearty, home-cooked breakfasts and lunches, especially those craving traditional English fare prepared with care.

The atmosphere leans into straightforward comfort: clean, no-frills interiors with a welcoming vibe that matches the friendly service. It’s the sort of place that suits a quiet start to the day, a casual catch-up, or a pit stop between errands. Locals here appreciate the freshly made dishes, from a robust liver and bacon plate to a filling homemade steak and kidney pie dinner – portions are generous, making it a practical choice for anyone seeking value alongside a substantial meal.

Visitors with a busy schedule or short on time will find Percy's accommodating for takeout, like the famously fresh bacon sandwiches, but there’s also enough space to sit and relax if you want to linger. The menu’s variety means it appeals to a spread of tastes and appetites, whether you’re after a classic cooked breakfast or something lighter like a tuna mayo jacket potato with salad.

Best times to visit are typically mid-morning to early afternoon during the week when tradespeople, retirees, and locals in between jobs drop in. The dependable quality and straightforward home cooking create an inviting local rhythm that resonates with people looking for a familiar, filling meal rather than anything flashy.

Me and my brother popped in today for a cooked breakfast. The cafe was nice and clean . The food was freshly cooked. Nice crusty bread. And service with a smile. Would definitely recommend.

Since retiring I’ve used this café about twice a week for breakfast which is lovely and I sometimes get a take out bacon sandwich made with freshly cut crusty bread and my favourite liver and bacon dinner all home cooked and absolutely delicious. The owners are friendly, I come from Canvey and it’s well worth the journey,a proper English cafe!

A highly recommended café. The food served is always top quality, home cooked and very fresh. The portions are enormous and the menu choices will suit every taste.I now have dietary limitations but still have trouble choosing form the variety. Also, most important - excellent value for money. I recommend the fish n chips, chilli, lasagne, cottage pie, any salad with jacket spud, the roast dinners (lots of veg), the ham egg and chips and the mushroom omelette - all superb. I've seen the beef stew and dumplings which looks too good and too big to finish. They get so busy that mistakes can be made so check takeaways before leaving. Oh, and they do a 2 cups of tea with main course deal and they have a real coffee machine so cappuccino or latte is the real thing. There is also a lovely sheltered garden out the back surrounded by flowers, very relaxing and calm especially in warm summer days. Suitable for one and all.

Looking for a convenient parking space and saw Percy's cafe opposite. Thickly cut slices of bread used for a generous sandwich and hot coffee served. Somewhere I'd go again.
